Prada—Versace deal due to close on December 2

Prada’s €1.25 billion acquisition of Versace—set to close December 2—marks a major consolidation in the luxury fashion sector, with significant implications for global leather goods. The idea: Versace’s strong Mediterranean heritage and high-glamour identity complement Prada and Miu Miu, positioning the group to expand its leather accessories and ready-to-wear portfolio over the long term. While major changes aren’t expected immediately, Versace will serve as a “laboratory” for product experimentation, reinforcing its legacy in premium leather goods and helping the expanded group target future revenue growth toward €7 billion.
