ROME - Members of the global leather industry gathered to discuss progress towards sustainability goals as well as the role of hides, skins and leather in the broader livestock agroecosystem.
As a small cohort of protestors demonstrated against the entire livestock sector, industry leaders discussed progress to date as well as next steps in minimizing environmental impacts.
During the conference, the FAO released two new guidelines documents to provide stakeholders with new approaches and insights to better evaluate the economic, social and environmental contributions of livestock systems.
