Membership and Services
With more than 75 members, ranging from small family run businesses to multi-national organizations, we work hard to represent all parties as represented in the sliding scale of fees that are charged.
We are the only organization that specifically focuses on the issues and concerns of US leather tanners and hides producers, processors, brokers, dealers and exporters.
With our role as a singular and strong voice for the industry we would like to invite you to join our Association.
ADVOCACY LHCA represents the industry and gives it a voice in Washington, D.C. and around the world. Our work includes representing the industry during trade and tariff negotiations, animal health and environmental regulations, and any other action that might affect the interests of the industry.
ADVISORY We are proud to be the go-to organization for information on home markets, on international developments affecting our sector, on new market opportunities and on trade policy.
INSIGHTS Our research and data analysis programs enable us to deliver a comprehensive suite of data and expert analysis to our industry, stakeholders and commentators. Recent reports include our annual Year End trade summaries, forecasts for the following year, and periodic reports regarding topics of interest to the industry.
MARKET DEVELOPMENT We work with our members and affiliate organizations to open and develop new markets around the world. Examples include U.S. hides, skins and wet blue product exports to China, Vietnam, and India which all faced significant barriers to trade.
RESEARCH We commission original research on behalf of the industry and work with our members to provide expert analysis for their benefit. For example, we recently undertook a review of the number of U.S. cattle hides that were sent to landfill in 2019, rather than processed into leather production, helping the industry understand the amount of waste it saves each year.
Joining LHCA
We are open to all business and organizations working with or in the industry with applications reviewed by our Board of Directors. Dues are based on business size and/or hide and leather production, processing on trading to ensure costs are fair and accessible to all.
